Chodsky Pes is the internationally recognized name for this lovely breed, based on their origination in the Chod region of the Czech Republic. This medium-sized shepherd was bred to assist with border patrol, livestock herding, and family protection. They are not aggressive by nature, but may be aloof with strangers and will alert to anything unusual on the premises.

This breed was brought to near extinction as late as 1985 and is still rare outside their native country. They are currently recognized as part of the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) and in the process of obtaining full recognition with the American Kennel Club (AKC). Because of this, preference will be given to show and performance homes when selecting families for our future puppies.

Bohemian Shepherds are a highly intelligent breed capable of many different show and performance venues. They are active dogs with a strong work ethic and natural guarding instinct. However, they also have a good "off switch," and are typically even-tempered with children and other household pets. With proper socialization, they make excellent companions.
We are hoping for a litter in early 2027. At this time, we are not maintaining a formal waitlist. We place puppies in the homes that are most suited to their abilities and temperament, and we give preference to working homes that are active in search and rescue (SAR) or AKC conformation or performance sports. If you are interested in being considered for a puppy, please send us a detailed email about yourself , where you live, and why you are interested in a Bohemian Shepherd.
